About the Exhibit: This is our second time hosting the "More Than A Uniform Exhibit" and it will highlight works of art created by service members, veterans, family members and caregivers.
Art can express big emotions. It can give a voice to pain and anger. It can be a way to see beauty in imperfect lives. Art can be mindful. It can serve as a break from big emotions and serve as a way to escape from the heaviness of life.
“As individuals we connect with the art, with ourselves, with others that we gather to create with, or share our creations with. Connection and belonging are two very powerful protective factors for suicide prevention... Art is a tool that can exorcise emotions and what is in the art is as important as what is left out.” –Alyssa Knoll
We want service members, veterans, family members and caregivers’ art to be seen and your voices to be heard.
We hope that you will find a sense of understanding in this exhibit and that as your art is shared, the stigma around mental health and suicide will fade away as our understanding of the problem grows.
Connect with others by sharing your work in the "More Than A Uniform Exhibit". If you are a service member, veteran, family member or caregiver of someone who has served, then your art matters and belongs in this exhibit.
